car, Mahindra Reva E2O today at a grandiose event in New Delhi. The unveiling was done at the historic monument of Delhi, India gate that made the launch event grand. Mahindra has priced Reva E2O combatively at Rs 5.96 lakh (On-road price, New Delhi). Since the hatchback has scanty competition in India therefore it is expected to open to a good start. The price mentioned is post the subsidy for electric cars in Delhi. The car has been offered in two variants comprised of T0 and T2; the latter has a price tag of Rs 6.25 lakhs.


There is an advanced lithium ion 48V battery in Mahindra Reva E20 that powers the two door electric hatchback’s 3 phase induction motor. The electric motor belts out 19Kw power at 3,750 Rpm and 53 Nm of torque at 0-3400 rpm. The engine is synchronized to a CVT automatic transmission that comes with hill hold feature. Fuel economy offered by Mahindra E2O is staggering; on one charge the car can run 100 kms and top speed attained by the electric wagon is 81 kmph. The lithium ion batteries do not demand maintenance which implies that one can give one year interval for the servicing.


Touch screen infotainment system is another important feature that informs of the car’s significant parameters along with the driver’s driving habit. Your smartphone can play as the remote to lock and unlock Reva E2O. Also air conditioner can be activated using smartphone which is another uber cool feature. Mahindra has rolled out six colour options for Reva E2O that comprise of Sunfire Yellow, Spanish Red, Eco Green, Oceanic White, Coral Blue and Arctic Silver. The new electric car is available for sale in just eight states in India that include Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Cochin and Hyderabad.



For one complete charge the car needs to be plugged in for five hours in a day. There is also an option for charging the car through solar charging system which is an organic way. Capable of seating four adults comfortably, the new electric car from Mahindra comes loaded with an array of features. Brake energy regeneration, GPS and satellite navigation are offered as standard features in Reva E20 (the latter two features are offered on the high end version only). It also comes with SMS activated reserve charge feature that enables to unlock a reverse charge from batteries in case of an emergency.




Mahindra eyes to register a monthly sale of 500 units in India, it also has plans to export Reva E2O by next year, however the India specific model will not be shipped, the company will make tad changes for overseas market. Mahindra has invested a whopping Rs 100 crore for this project, Bangalore unit will be base for production where around 30,000 units can be produced in a year.
